The flying man, a Parya

Story

Look at these children! They might be the last generation to hear their mother-tongue.

The Parya have been discovered in the 1960’s by the Soviet linguist Iosef Mikhailovich Oranski.

We met them in Afghonobod village (next to the Uzbek border), where the Paria settled 200 years ago. Since then they have been acculturated. Still the elderly is speaking their mother tongue. But for how long?

As it is a spoken language, the Paria have already lost most of their record.

Most of the language and historical documentation related to their ethnic group is either missing or deteriorating.
